Just As

“Just as” can be translated as “the same, like, equal to.”  It seems to be a safe, non-impactful little phrase.  However, you will discover how “just as” is used in the context of the following verses that it becomes ultra-powerful.  Why?  Because it ties us to the behavior of Jesus.  You will find out that we are to walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us; love your wives, just as Christ loved the church; accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you; forgive each other, just as in Christ God forgave you; purify yourself, just as He is pure; to live righteously, just as he is righteous; serves just as the Son of Man came to serve.

Don’t take my word for it, read it yourself:

Eph. 5 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Eph. 5 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Romans 15 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

Eph. 4 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

1 John 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

1 John 3 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

Matt. 20 27 “….and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

We are to live “just as” Christ lived.  You may say, “Rick, there is absolutely no way that I can do that.”  You don’t think God knows that.  That’s why Jesus made it possible thru His life, His death, His resurrection, His ascension, His position and presence in heaven as our Advocate to save us so that we can be filled moment-by-moment by God, the Holy Spirit, one just like Jesus.  Allow Him to control your life and you will live and behave “just as” Jesus.  What a miracle that you can experience every day of your life!  Walk, love, accept, serve, be pure, forgive, live righteously “just as” Jesus living in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.  Amen!
