“What a difference you’ve made in my life.
What a difference you’ve made in my life
You’re my sunshine day and night
Oh, what a difference you’ve made in my life.
What a change you have made in my heart
What a change you have made in my heart
You replaced all the broken parts
Oh, what a change you have made in my heart.
Love to me was just a word in a song that had been way overused
But now I’ve joined in the singin’
‘Cause you’ve shown me love’s true meanin’
That’s why I want to spread the news.”
My wife had some good, ‘Ol Ronnie Milsap playing in the car the other day and this song came on. As a good husband does, I was boldly (and badly) singing this to my wife with all of my heart! I mean … who doesn’t need some brownie points now and again? I didn’t realize it, but besides Milsap, Christian music singer Amy Grant also released the song. In all these years, until the other day, I never put 2-and-2 together in applying this song to Christ. To be honest, I don’t even remember Grant’s version of this!
Do you ever just stop and think about the difference Christ has made in your life? I look back at where I was B.C. (before Christ) and where I am now and realize that even though I am still pretty much a mess, I am a much better mess than where I was surely headed had Christ not intervened in my life! 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” I still have those days, maybe even like yesterday, where I do, say and think things I have no business allowing in my life and yet He is faithful to make a difference in my life and change in my heart daily when I seek Him and ask His forgiveness! 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
I love how Christ is ALWAYS present and faithful to fulfill His Word in our lives and how he can use a simple song I have heard hundreds of times since its release over 40 years ago to remind me of and lead me back to Himself.
Lord Jesus, thank You for allowing simple people like me to be called Yours and for meeting us right where we are! For our good and Your Glory!!!!
