2 Corinthians 3:3 proclaims, “You are a letter from Christ, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
After Jesus’ resurrection, he instructed His disciples to wait until the Holy Spirit was given to them 24X7. Why? He recognized as we must realize that in the energy of our flesh we will not look or act like Him. Think of Peter who had denied Jesus 3 times at His trial and Thomas who doubted that Christ had been resurrected. Not one of the disciples stood up for Christ; each had betrayed Him. They knew, without Him, their life was bankrupt. Plus, they were called to witness to a world who very few had even heard of the name, Jesus. Christ proclaimed to them in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” They became mighty “witnesses” of Him. Their lives reflected Jesus when the operative within them was not their own flesh but the power of the Holy Spirit… “written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God.”
As believers in Christ, each of us has the call of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment (“love others as He loves you”). If the desire is for your letter to be a witness of Him, you must step aside and allow “the Spirit of the Living God” to write your letter.
